Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Savorful (“Savorful,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Savorful mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you acknowledge the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

Account and session information

Savorful creates an anonymous account so you can use the app without providing a name, email address, or password. We process a randomly generated account identifier, authentication tokens, account creation time, and related security information. If we later offer additional sign-in methods, we will process the identifiers needed for the method you choose.

Cooking content and preferences

We process the content you submit, including ingredient lists, fridge or pantry photos, meal photos, meal descriptions, serving preferences, cooking goals, common pantry items, disliked foods, allergies, dietary restrictions, recipe-adjustment requests, cooking questions, and similar cooking preferences. We also process the recipes, assistant replies, and ingredient-detection results generated for you.

Favorites and many preferences are stored on your device. Recipe requests, the ingredients and preferences included in a request, generated recipes, request status, and usage records may also be stored on our servers. We do not retain the image file itself in Savorful’s application database after it is processed; we retain limited image metadata such as image count or payload size for reliability and abuse prevention. Our AI provider may process image and text content as described under “How we share information.”

Camera and device access

With your permission, Savorful accesses the camera so you can photograph ingredients or a meal. Camera access is used only when you choose a photo-based feature. Savorful does not use the microphone or collect audio for its current features. If you enable reminders, Savorful uses the device notification permission and stores your reminder preferences on the device. Current reminders are scheduled locally; Savorful does not collect a push-notification token for this feature.

Subscription and transaction information

If you purchase Savorful Plus, we receive information such as the product selected, entitlement status, purchase and expiration dates, renewal status, transaction environment, and an account-linked purchase identifier. Apple processes payment-card and billing information; we do not receive or store your full payment-card number.

Usage, diagnostics, and network information

We collect limited events about how the Services operate, such as app opens, onboarding progress, feature selections, generation success or failure, purchase-flow status, remaining generation counts, platform, app version, environment, response status, and timing. We intentionally filter ingredient text, images, prompts, tokens, receipts, email addresses, and stack traces from analytics properties. Session replay is disabled. Our service providers may also process IP address, device and browser information, request logs, and security signals when you connect to the Services.

Support communications

If you contact us, we collect the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, screenshots, and troubleshooting details. In-app support chat may also include your anonymous Savorful account identifier, app version, platform, and app environment so we can identify the affected account and troubleshoot the request. Please do not include sensitive information that is not needed to resolve your request.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

• provide ingredient detection, recipe generation, and meal recreation;
• personalize recipes to your stated preferences and restrictions;
• create and secure anonymous accounts;
• track free generations, per-recipe message limits, and Savorful Plus allowances;
• process, restore, and validate subscriptions;
• operate, troubleshoot, protect, and improve the Services;
• prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Use;
• respond to support requests and communicate service information;
• comply with law and enforce our rights; and
• create aggregated or deidentified insights that do not reasonably identify you.

3. How we share information

We disclose information only as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, including to the following categories of recipients:

• Supabase, for anonymous authentication and database hosting;
• Vercel, for API and website hosting;
• OpenAI, to process ingredient lists, cooking preferences, photos, descriptions, and other request content and return AI-generated results;
• RevenueCat and Apple, to offer, validate, restore, and administer in-app subscriptions and purchases;
• PostHog, for limited product analytics. Savorful does not intentionally send ingredient text, photos, prompts, or contact information to PostHog, and does not link the Savorful account identifier to PostHog analytics;
• Expo, to deliver app builds and software updates;
• Crisp, to provide in-app support chat and retain the related conversation history and troubleshooting context; and
• professional advisers, authorities, or transaction counterparties when reasonably necessary for legal compliance, safety, enforcement, financing, reorganization, sale, or transfer of the business.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and the current Services do not display third-party advertising.

4. AI processing and food-safety information

AI systems can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected results. Savorful sends the content needed for a generation request to OpenAI. Always review generated ingredients and instructions, account for your own allergies and dietary needs, use safe food-handling practices, and confirm that food reaches a safe internal temperature. Savorful is not a medical, nutritional, or emergency service.

5. Retention

We retain account records, generation and credit history, stored request content, generated output, and subscription status while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide and protect the Services. We retain operational, security, support, and transaction records only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including fraud prevention, dispute resolution, accounting, and legal compliance. Aggregated or deidentified information may be retained where it no longer reasonably identifies you. Service-provider backups and logs may remain for a limited period under their normal deletion cycles.

6. Account deletion and your choices

You can delete your account from Settings → Delete accountin the Savorful app. Deletion removes the anonymous authentication account and Savorful’s associated server records, queues deletion of the corresponding RevenueCat customer record, and clears Savorful data from that device. Deletion cannot be undone. You may also request assistance at support@savorful.app.

Deleting your Savorful account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple. Manage or cancel it separately in your Apple account before deleting if you do not want future charges.

You may deny or revoke camera access in device settings. You may also stop analytics collection by discontinuing use and deleting the app. If you reinstall after deletion, Savorful creates a new anonymous account.

7. Privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent, and to appeal a denied request. You may also have the right to complain to a local privacy regulator. To exercise a right, email support@savorful.app. We may need information reasonably necessary to verify and fulfill the request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

Savorful does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising as those terms are defined by applicable U.S. state privacy laws. We therefore do not offer a separate sale or targeted-advertising opt-out. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law.

8. Legal bases for EEA, UK, and Swiss users

Where applicable, we process information to perform our contract with you by providing the Services; for legitimate interests such as securing, maintaining, and improving the Services; with consent for permission-based device access; and to comply with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

9. International transfers

Savorful and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries whose privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we rely on legally recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual protections.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Anonymous accounts cannot currently be recovered after the app is deleted, the session is lost, or the account is deleted.

11. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action. Users under the age of majority where they live should use the Services only with permission of a parent or guardian.

12. External links and services

The Services may link to third-party sites or system pages, such as Apple subscription management. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Policy.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy as the Services or law changes. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. If a change is material, we will provide additional notice when reasonably appropriate.
